Our Influencers

When we were in school, I'm not sure any of us would have called our teachers "Influencers".   Reflecting on the essential roles of these influencers, our teachers, and our mentors played in our lives we would like to share and celebrate their stories.  

In 2022 classmate Martha Heck Stiehl was inducted into the SCHS Academic Hall of Fame.  In her powerful acceptance speech, she acknowledged the critical part SCHS educators played in shaping the musician and person she is today.  Martha's reflections and yours are what we should share in the "Influencer" section of this website.  Was it a shop teacher, a coach, or an English teacher?  Who influenced you?

Robert D. Raver, age 91 of Salem passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.



Robert was born on October 8, 1928, in Salem, Illinois to Willis Leroy and Bertha (Tate) Raver. He married Jackie S. (Featherling) Raver on December 25, 1950, and she preceded him in death in 1990. He later married Mary Ellen (Leverenz) Hyde Raver on September 20, 1990, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2019.
