Welcome classmates. We have entered all the names of those who went to school with us in Salem.  Some may have moved away before graduation, and some have passed away but we are all reunited on this website.

Born Flora, Illinois, June 23, 1950; admitted to bar, 1977, Alabama, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Alabama and U.S. Court of Appeals, FifthCircuit; 1982, U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, District of Columbia Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.

Served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years as a prosecutor before enrolling in law school at the completion of his tour of duty. Steve graduated from the Cumberland School of Law (summa cum laude) in 1977. He then served as a law clerk to the Honorable James Hancock in the Northern District of Alabama before beginning his practice as a trial attorney. Steve has served as the President of the Birmingham Bar Association (1998), President of the Alabama Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and as a member of the Alabama Supreme Court Advisory Committee on appellate practice for the past fifteen years.

AVA — Larry Steven Hickey, 74, of Ava, Illinois, formerly of this area passed away May 22, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL.









Born February 24, 1948 in Iuka, IL, he was the son of Estel L. and Edith (Featherly) Hickey.









Graveside funeral services will take place at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Iuka Cemetery with Dr. Andy DeWitt officiating. The family invite you to gather with them prior to the service hour at the cemetery. There is no public visitation hour. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Salem American Legion Post #128. Memorials may be made to the Salem American Legion Post #128 and will be received by the Sutherland — Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Arthur "Artie" Holleman, Jr.

Comment: Arthur “Artie” L. Holleman, Jr., a beloved resident of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 74.

Artie was born on Sunday, March 12, 1950, the son of Arthur L. Holleman, Sr. and Nadean (Mayberry) Holleman, and was known for his kind heart, gentle demeanor, and enduring friendships.



Artie pursued his education with a focus on the arts, earning an Associate in Arts degree. His dedication to his profession was evident in his 32 years of service at the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center in Centralia, where he touched many lives with his commitment and genuine care. Artie was a man of many passions. As an amateur guitar player and an enthusiastic photographer, he found joy in the creative arts, capturing the beauty of the world around him through both music and imagery.



He is survived by his son, Christian Miller of West Virginia, and his nephew, Adam Call, along with Adam’s wife, Megan, of Kansas. Arthur is also survived by his three devoted friends: Florence O’Brien, Jill Watson, and Troy Daugherty all of Centralia. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jackie Call.



Per Artie’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held.
