Both of our children are grown. Lori is a Pharmacist in St. Louis and Jon is an Assistant Professor at SIU-C. We finally have one grandson (his name is Parker). Herb and I enjoy traveling, gardening, and walking with our dogs. I look forward to the day I can retire so we can travel even more! Enjoy the site everyone. It's great to hear what everyone is up to these days. We shouldn't have to wait for a reunion to keep in touch! |

Classmate Linda (Kretzer) Shaffer of Moweaqua, Illinois, died on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born July 15, 1950, in Salem, and was the daughter of George and Pauline (Ellis) Kretzer. She married Carl Shaffer on May 22, 1966, in Alma, and he survives in Moweaqua. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shaffer is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Keltz of Mahomet; a son, Rick A. Shaffer and wife Susan of Port Bryan; a brother Jerry Kretzer and wife Kathy of Salem; a sister Nancy Dennis and husband Ed of Salem; three grandchildren, Andrew Poppy, Heather Keltz, and Lindsay Keltz; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary L. Kretzer. Mrs. Shaffer was a licensed practical nurse. Services will be held at 1:30 p. m. on Tuesday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem with Charles Kretzer officiating. Interment will be held at Alma Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p. m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fredonia Cemetery and may be made out to Nancy Dennis. We extend our condolences to all of Linda's family. |
