Welcome classmates. We have entered all the names of those who went to school with us in Salem.  Some may have moved away before graduation, and some have passed away but we are all reunited on this website.

Paul Watson

Comment: Paul E. Watson died on Monday, August 6, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.  He was born in Salem on October 31, 1947.  He was the son of John Watson and Tina Dodson. He married Nancy Frances.  He was a former stockman at Salem IGA.  Survivors included his wife, Nancy Watson of Salem; two daughters, Terri Smith and husband Michael, and Vanessia Johnson, all of Shawneetown, Ill.; eight grandchildren; three brothers, John Watson of Salem, Eddie Watson of Mason, and Golden Watson of Patoka; and a sister, Katherin Whelchel and husband Leon of Patoka.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Following cremation, memorial services were held on August 9 at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem with Reverend Ronald Bailey officiating.

Janet West (Dial)

Comment: Janet Kay West, 51, of Odin and formerly of Flora, died at 7:02 a. m. Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Salem Township Hospital.  She was born October 29, 1949, in Centralia, daughter of Gilbert and Viola (Jourdan) Dial.  She married Roy E. "Gene" West, Jr. of February 6, 1981, in Flora, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2000.  She had worked at Hollywood Candy Company in Centralia for nine years and attended Gospel Lighthouse Church in Odin.  She was survived by her parents, Gilbert and Viola Dial of Odin; two sons, Jason Corrie of Salem and Roy West III of Odin; three brothers, Gleason Dial of Santa Claus, Ind., Clayton Dial of Salem, and Allan Dial of Centralia; and a grandson.  Services were held at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.  Memorials could be made to the donor's choice.

Larry White

Comment: Larry White, 59, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008.  He was born on November 7, 1949, in Salem, Illinois, the son of Ira and Dorothy (Stowers) White.  He graduated from Salem Community High School in Salem.  He served twenty years and retired from the United States Army as an SFC E7 in 1989.  He then worked for Contract Service in Fort Riley, Kansas, retiring in 1998 at which time he and his wife Shirley relocated to El Dorado Springs, Missouri.  Larry married Shirley Ann Rhodes on November 7, 1970, in Warrington, England.  He was a member of All Saints Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with members of his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, and brother.  He was survived by his wife Shirley and his son Paul Rhodes of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; six brothers, Michael White, Edward White, David White, Billy White, and Jimmy White, all of Illininois, and Danny Molz of Arkansas; four sisters, Carolyn Harriman, Virginia Snodgrass, and Christine Clark, all of Illinois, and Elaine Marker of Louisiana.  He was also survived by four sisters-in-law, Yvonne Jenkins and husband David of Nevada, Donna Wood and husband Troy of Walker, Missouri, Johanna Rhodes of Warrington, England, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death were his mother and father, Ira and Dorothy White, of Salem, Illinois; and sisters, Cleta White of Salem and Sue Sample of Manhattan, Kansas.  A memorial service was held on Friday, December 19, 2008, at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Nevada, Missouri.  Honorary pallbearers were Paul Rhodes, Troy Wood, David Jenkins, Gordon Rhodes, Michael White, Edward White, Billy White, David White, and Jimmy White.  In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 603, New York, New York 10038 or in care of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Fantastic web site, it's obvious alot of work went into it!  I enjoyed a couple of hours of going down memory lane.  We were all so young then!  It was great to see all of you who I use to know and find out where life has taken you.  Deceided to end " missing classmate " status. 




Life takes you down many paths. I married once, was Glenda McGraw, had three children. Married the love of my life,  became Glenda Williams.  Eddie and I raised my 3 children , we had one child,    3 dogs ,and lived mostly in the Chicago suburbs.  I've been a widow for thirteen years.retired at 60, moved to Tennessee where my oldest son and four grandchildren live. Later moved to Austin,TX. where one son and 2 daughters lived.  Love Austin!. Careers have been in real estate ,automotive sales (15 years),  and  now I  work  part -time with people  who have cognitive disabilities. This is my calling.  Goal in life is to see my youngest daughter receive her Doctorate in Forensic Psychology. She starts her intershipship in L.A,.CA this fall. Yeah !  After that.?  Who knows?  A third world country?    Back to Salem ??   Best wishes to all in class of '68!!  Glenda

Joyce Williams (Shuler)

Comment: James Leonard Williams, 58, of Salem, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.  He was born on Feb. 9, 1950, son of James Herbert Williams and Lois Kathryn Boyles.  He married Joyce Shuler on Oct. 20, 1979, in Salem and she survives.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cindy Murray of Odin and fiance Glenn Bejamain; two sons, Rodney Eugene Hodge of Salem and William Dennis Hodge of Salem and special friend Barbara Bullard; two brothers, Kenneth Lee Williams and wife Lee Ann of Benton, and Wayne Ray Williams and wife Jennifer of of Baytown, Texas; four grandchildren, Ricky Dobyns, Brittany Murray, Todd Murray, and Allison Hodge; and a great-granddaughter Marah Jaymason Lynn Johnson.  Mr. Williams was a retired engineer for the Salem Fire Protection District, a driver for Egyptian Concrete, and a farmer.  He was a member of the Salem Apostolic Church and loved the outdoors.  Services were held at 10 a. m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Salem Apostolic Church with Calvin Jean and Charlie Jett officiating.  Interment followed at Martin Cemetery in rural Alma.  Memorials could be made to the Apostolic Christian Academy of Salem and were received at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, which was in charge of arrangements.
