Welcome classmates. We have entered all the names of those who went to school with us in Salem. Some may have moved away before graduation, and some have passed away but we are all reunited on this website.

Alan L. Burroughs, 44, of 1963 Burroughs Road, Iuka, died at 3:31, April 4, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was born on Feb. 1, 1950, in Iuka, son of Loyal and Evanelle (Jones) Burroughs. His parents survived in Iuka. He married Jan Read in Iuka on Aug. 24, 1974, and she survived in Iuka. Other survivors included a son, David Burroughs, of Salem; three daughters, Randa Rose of Omega and Angie Burroughs and Alane Burroughs, both at home; two brothers, Jerry Burroughs and Jim Burroughs, both of Iuka; two sisters, Joan Colclasure of Decatur and Elaine Fisher of Xenia; and a grandchild. Mr. Burroughs was a farmer. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Salem. He belonged to North American Limousine Association. Services were held at 10:30 Friday, Aug. 8, 1994, at the Assembly of God Church in Salem, with Rev. Larry Connour officiating. Interment was in the Iuka Cemtery. Memorials could be made to the Building Fund of the Salem Assembly of God Church and were received at the funeral home. |

Robert D. Butcher, 56, of Xenia, IL, died at 10:15 a.m. on May 6, 2006, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, IL. He was born on April 19, 1950, In Iuka, IL, to Glen and Stella Mae (Lawrence) Butcher. He is survived by his longtime friend, Glenda Logan of Xenia; sons Mike Gooden and wife Debra of Centralia and Kyle Butcher of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren Seth and Paige Gooden of Centalia; a brother, Archie Butcher and wife Linda of Xenia; and sisters Mrs. Ron (Irene) Kendall of Orlando, FL and Mrs. Leonard (Glenna) Payne of Rock Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Butcher was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and riding four-wheelers. Graveside services were conducted at the Christian Home Cemetery in rural Iuka. Osborn Funeral Home in Dix was in charge of arrangements.
